Community Ambassadors

Community Ambassadors is a group of local people who act as ambassadors for the Centre.  Promoting events, consulting with their neighbours and extending offers of support.

Community Ambassadors

The group began in 2012 when the Centre was planning to host a Suicide remembrance evening. A group of local women offered to support the running of the event and the Community Ambassadors group evolved from this. The Community Ambassadors have been active ever since organising events; participating in community training like SAFE talk and Complimentary Therapy Workshops and creating awareness around domestic violence through 16 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women. In the last year they supported the Knockalisheen Women’s Group International Food Day. The Ambassadors were also integral to our Voting Drive for the referendum and helped with the decoration of the centre for Santa’s Grotto at Christmas. They volunteer every year at our Harvest Fair and Thomond Park Senior Citizens Christmas Party.

This group are always open to new members. If you reside in Knockalisheen Direct Provision Centre and would like to get involved, please complete the confidential contact form or call 061 326623.
